How are your products made?
All Threadless products are printed using on-demand printing technologies. Each product type uses unique printing processes ranging from Direct-To-Garment printing to Dye Sublimation to Giclée Printing for Wall Art. Because most of our custom printing is done in the USA, we're able to eliminate waste and provide opportunities to the local economy and artists worldwide.
The printing process we use for apparel products (DTG) uses water-based inks, like NeoPigment™ or CMYK Color Gamut, that are 100% non-hazardous, toxin-free and adhere to the strictest human health and environmental standards. Because the ink is water based, it is 100% biodegradable, contains no animal by-products, and is completely vegan friendly. The printing process is also a completely waterless, dry process which allows for a low environmental footprint, so no water is used or wasted in the printing process.
What is DTG?
Direct-to-garment (DTG) is a method where a digital printer is used to print a design directly onto a garment using inkjet technology. Picture a futuristic inkjet printer the size of your bathroom that costs more than a house! It's like a giant inkjet printer, but using blank garments instead of paper- that’s essentially how on-demand printing works. Since DTG is printed using a digital printer, it has less color limitations than screen printing, which allows for more versatility since you are not required to match colors by inks and pantones. Because of this, the print stays pretty close to true color. Additionally, with DTG, customization is super simple. Since you are able to print an image directly on a garment, DTG does not require any up-front investment, inventory commitments, or set-up requirements. DTG helps us invest more in artists and less in inventory, providing more opportunities for artists to be creative and take design risks while giving them more canvases to explore.
What is Giclée?
French for "sprayed ink", Giclée is a sophisticated digital process optimized for fine art, design, and photographic printing using archival inks on high-quality paper and canvas. The extra-fine image resolution achieved in this printing process permits retention of a high degree of fine detail, rendering deeply saturated colors with broad ranges of tonal values.
Since all of our items are custom printed on demand, it takes some time to process your order before shipping to make sure that your prints are looking their absolute best! The processing time is usually around 2 to 5 business days. Processing times can vary throughout the year depending on demand but will always be noted in the 'Shipping Methods' section of checkout at the time of purchase.
We want to be sure you’re satisfied with your order, which is custom made especially for you. If your order is wrong, you’re not happy with the prints, or it isn’t what you expected for any reason, our Help Team will gladly replace or exchange any items free of charge. Your Happiness, Guaranteed.
