Threadless Tutorial: Preparing your Design for Submission
You can create your design any way you want. Draw it, illustrate it, sculpt it, finger paint it! But we only accept submissions .jpgs, .gifs, or .pngs, so you’ll have to use a design program for the finishing touches before you submit your work.
Once you have a design ready to be submitted to the Threadless design challenge, the hard work of coming up with and creating a new design is done. Now, you'll want to prep your file in a few easy steps so you can submit your design to the design challenge.
Step 1: Create a High Res Version
First, you'll want to create a high resolution version of your design. Be sure to keep your layers separate.
Step 2: Create a Flattened Copy
Create a 72 dpi flattened copy of your design.
Step 3: Download Template
Download a template of your canvas. You can find the Template Downloads in the Threadless Submissions Guidelines and Assets
Step 4: Add Your Design to the Template
You'll then drop your flattened copy onto one of these templates (or you are welcome create your own).
Step 5: Save Your Design file
Save your file as a JPG. Your design file for your submission should be 1200 pixels wide, 1200 pixels tall, and 72 dpi.
After a design is submitted, it remains pending for approval for 1-2 business days before it’s up for voting. Sometimes designs can remain pending for a few days longer, like when an unusually high number of designs are submitted.
Keep in mind, we won’t accept anything racist, pornographic, or anything that could commonly be considered offensive. We also cannot accept designs with other logos, most celebrity likenesses, or copyrighted material outside of our licensed collections and challenges. See our parody information page for more details.
